Energy company pleads not guilty in Michigan court

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has been accused of lying to Michigan landowners while in the process of leasing out various properties. This new accusation comes after some antitrust claims that relate to bids made in Michigan over gas exploration rights. The company has now pleaded not guilty to the accusations of lying in a court in Cheboygan, Michigan.

Michigan lawsuit over dumped automotive fluids and raw sewage

A junkyard in Michigan is the subject of a lawsuit that claims both raw sewage and automotive fluids were being illegally disposed of by the company. Ypsilanti Township filed the lawsuit against the business, and the junkyard was also told that it had to close as the process moved forward.

Merger creates Michigan's third largest bank

Michigan's third largest bank has arrived by way of a merger. Firstbank and Mercantile have been working on the move for some time, and they just finished it and began operating as one financial entity. Despite the combination of the two, operations are going to continue to be run under the name of Mercantile Bank Corp.
