That woman said she does not want to settle and intends to bring the case before a trial in order to "see what the community thinks about it."

An African American nurse has filed a lawsuit against the medical center that employs her, arguing that the facility refused to allow her to treat an infant because of her skin color. The nurse filed the discrimination complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as well as a civil lawsuit. She is seeking unspecified damages compensating her for her emotional stress and the damage she claims she suffered to reputation.
Former Detroit Mercy coach sues school over firing
A former assistant coach with the University of Detroit Mercy basketball team says he was fired after reporting an affair between another assistant coach and the school's athletic director. The man recently filed a wrongful discharge lawsuit against the university in the Wayne County Circuit Court, also arguing that UDM's athletic department fostered a culture of harassment during his time there.
Real estate firm acquires Michigan Orthopedic Center for $14.8M
An out-of-state health care real estate company plans to expand operations in the Ann Arbor area after buying the Michigan Orthopedic Center for $14.8 million. Included in the purchase was the Center's 86,125-square foot facility, which has an estimated value of close to $9 million. The purchase marks the Midwestern firm's first acquisition in Michigan. "We were attracted to this because of the strength of the healthcare system," explained an official with the real estate firm. "This is a very strong hospital and we're looking to grow our footprint in Michigan."
